Bonus Facades: opportunities for the dissemination of innovative and sustainable technological solutions.

The "Facades Bonus", foreseen in Bill on the Budget 2020 (Title V, art. 25) currently under discussion in the Senate, allows you to deduct from the gross income tax of individuals (IRPEF) il 90 percent of the expenses that will be incurred and documented in 2020 for building interventions, including those of ordinary maintenance, aimed at the recovery or restoration of building facades.

The face bonus is provided together with the confirmation for the 2020 other incentives already in place to encourage investments in the building stock and increase its resilience and sustainability (deductions to 50% for building renovations, deductions to 50% o al 65% for energy efficiency interventions, deductions for the purchase of furniture and large appliances for renovated buildings).

Pending the conclusion of the parliamentary procedure, we summarize in the following table the main elements announced for the facade bonus.

Characteristic Description
Recipients The facade bonus will affect all private buildings, from the house to the condominium, including historic and suburban buildings, located in large cities or small municipalities, without distinction.
Combinability The facade bonus will be cumulative with other incentives related to energy saving and renovations (Ecobonus, ecc.).
Facilitation allowed The facility will be granted for expenses incurred and documented in the form of a personal income tax deduction, therefore by the Revenue Agency; it will be equal to 90% of the investment, without any spending limit.
Type of intervention Building interventions, including those of ordinary maintenance, aimed at recovery and / or restoration, come:

  • refurbishment of plaster and painting;
  • refurbishment of railings;
  • decorations and marble recovery of facades;
  • refurbishment of balconies; or rain coverings, outdoor lighting systems and tv cables.


The theme of the recovery of the external facades of the buildings is at the center of one of the technological supply chains of Polo Green HoMe which promotes a modular approach capable of integrating innovative materials and plant solutions such as, in particular, the I-BEST technological system.

I-BEST, subject of a research project & Innovation between Calabrian entrepreneurial realities and the University of Calabria, is aimed at the integrated renovation of building facades, combining modularity, energy efficiency and environmental sustainability with an adequate cost-benefit ratio.
