NZC Pilot Cities Programme: a boost to the climate transition for Mission Cities

Applications for NetZeroCities are open (NZC) Pilot Cities Programme, expiring on 18 march 2024.

The call invites them Mission Cities to apply to become Pilot Cities with the purpose of experiment with innovative approaches, leveraging research and innovation to implement the process decarbonisation, aimed at achieving climate neutrality by 20230, in reference to:

  • mobility
  • energy systems
  • built environment
  • flows of materials and resources
  • health and wellness
  • natural areas
  • cultural/social/financial/institutional systems
  • accessible public spaces

Eligible Subjects:

Anyone can participate Local societies not city ​​administrations participants in the EU Mission for climate neutral and intelligent cities by 2030, individually or gathered in consortia of at least two members. Furthermore, the categories that can participate in a consortium led by a Mission City are local partners such as institutes of Research/university, PMI, ONG/associations, groups of citizens or other stakeholders involved by local authorities or city administrations in implementing their climate ambitions.

Budget:

Financial support will be in the form of cascading funding and the budget will be included between € 12.000.000 e € 20.000.000. The grants will be awarded as follows:

  • € 500.000 – € 600.000 for proposals with at least one participating district/city and at least one additional consortium partner,
  • € 1.000.000 for proposals with at least two participating cities/districts, plus other additional consortium partners,
  • € 1.500.000 for consortia of at least three cities/districts and other additional consortium partners.

Financing entity:

Horizon Europe – Research, and Innovation (R&I) Framework Programme of the European Commission (EC).
