Tool aimed at researchers from public universities and EPRs to enhance research with SMEs

INGENUITY is a call for tenders that finances experimental research and development projects of companies interested in industrially exploiting the results produced by researchers from public universities and public research bodies.

The Notice is in pre-information (D.D. n. 12814 of the 17/10/2019) for a period of 15 days on the CalabriaEuropa portal (link to the Notice).

The INGENIOUS action is based on one “showcase of search results” at a stage of development between TRLs 4 (Laboratory validation of the concept) e TRL 7 (Demonstration in an operational environment). The showcase is already available on the dedicated website www.convalideindustriali.it and access, open since last year, is based on the sending of an information sheet (download scheda) a calabriainnova@pcert.it by the research group representative. The “dispay window” will remain open even after the publication of the Notice.

From the official publication in the Official Bulletin (SIGN) of the Notice, the action dedicated to companies interested in developing will begin “industrial validation projects” of the search results of the “dispay window”. These are industrial research and experimental development projects that companies must carry out in collaboration with the bodies responsible for the research result. Projects will have a maximum duration of 18 months and they will be able to receive a maximum public contribution of 500.000 euro. In particular, companies receive a maximum contribution equal to 50-60% of the costs incurred while public research organizations receive a contribution equal to 100% of costs).

The Notice provides two stages.

  • Phase 1 (optional) allows access to the support services for the construction of the validation project provided by Finalabra SpA (no financial incentives are foreseen for companies for this phase).
  • Phase 2 provides for the financing of the industrial validation project through prototyping activities, demonstration, pilot product testing and validation, new or improved processes or services.

The Notice establishes 4.569.669 euros for project financing. The 50% of the allocation is reserved for projects that reach the Phase 2 after benefiting from Phase services 1.

Le applications for participation to the Phase 1 must be submitted by 30 days from the publication of the Notice on the BURC. The evaluation of applications will be done in chronological order of presentation, admitting to the Phase 2 proposals that achieve a score equal to or greater than 60/100.

Businesses that do not want to take advantage of the Phase 1 they can apply directly to Phase 2 within 30 days to the publication of the Notice on the BURC. Also in this case, applications will be evaluated in chronological order of submission and financed only with a score of greater than 60 points
