  • Test station complete with sensors (resistance thermometers, thermoflowmeters, temperature and relative humidity probes, probes for measuring the flow rate and air velocity, equipped with air conditioning system complete with air handling unit, water heater, refrigeration unit, emission terminals (radiator, ventilconvettore, underfloor heating, air outlet and extraction vents), fully monitored and controlled for research in the field of air conditioning systems and the thermal behavior of buildings;
  • Solar thermal system complete with storage tank and control system for research in the field of solar thermal systems;
  • Scale model for the estimation of natural illuminance inside the rooms complete with internal and external photometric sensors;
  • Instrumentation for the measurement of external photometric quantities complete with sky scanner, sun tracker, photometers and luminance meters;
  • Meteorological station for the acquisition of temperature and relative humidity data of the external air, wind speed, direct and diffuse solar radiation;
  • Small climatic chamber for the thermophysical characterization of materials;
  • Large climatic chamber for the thermophysical characterization of walls;
  • High performance professional thermal imaging camera;
  • Calculation codes for modeling and dynamic simulation of the thermophysical behavior of buildings (Design Builder, C++, TRNSYS)

Activities:

LASER – Laboratory for Application of Smart Energy and Renewables - consists of three sections: Technical Physics, Building Acoustics and Work Environment, Air quality and occupancy monitoring. The Technical Physics section deals with the following topics: Study of the energy of buildings, validation of models for the dynamic simulation of the thermal behavior of buildings, fluid dynamic analysis of the intake and exhaust system of internal combustion engines using experimental and numerical techniques, fluid dynamic characterization of innovative components using experimental and numerical techniques, development of high-accuracy fluid-dynamic and magneto-hydrodynamic numerical codes.

  • MA-TR-ECO PON MIUR. 2011-2015.
