The equipment available at the laboratory allows you to create:

  • Analysis of the thermal insulation characteristics of green building materials through in situ and laboratory tests with Passlink thermal chamber
  • Thermal analysis of buildings with flow and infrared techniques
  • Remote monitoring network of micro-environmental parameters
  • Tensile / compression / flexural strength tests of lignocellulosic fiber materials
  • Survey of the roughness and surface profile of bio-building materials both in situ and in the laboratory Measurement in the laboratory of the hydrophobicity and hydrophilicity of bio-vegetal materials
  • Realization of 3D prototypes also with bioplastic materials
  • Measurement of environmental parameters and performance of building envelopes (Radon,microbial contamination, air infiltrations, electromagnetic fields, ecc.)

Activities:

  • Performance analysis of biomaterials
  • Development of new materials and construction components for construction made with biomaterials from crop or processing residues and from plant species with a high lignocellulosic content
  • Development of innovative solutions with biomaterials for temporary construction and heavy packaging
  • Analysis and design of green roofs and walls in construction
  • Development and design of building solutions using Phase Change Materials (PCM)
  • Environmental sustainability assessments, economic and social through life cycle assessment methodologies (ITACA protocol – Life Cycle Assessment – LCA, Life Cycle Costing – LCC e Social Life Cycle Assessment – SLCA).
