Activities:

The activity of ABITA center is aimed at promoting, organize and develop research activities in the field of sustainable systems and technologies for architecture, to control the quality of interventions on buildings and promote their integration into the urban context, through

  • Participation in national and European research
  • Assistance to Bodies and Municipalities in planning
  • Training and planning activities

The ABITA inter-university center allows you to participate in a network of interesting proposals and experiences from the point of view of training and research, promoting exchange and comparison but also the possibility of having a single curriculum to share in the event of European competitiveness and with the availability of experts, in the figure of university professors who adhere to the Center from all universities and from their other national and international scientific collaborations. In addition, the affiliation as a local office allows the accreditation as ABITA of all those seminars and additional courses to training on the educational offer of all the locations, with accompaniment for activities that provide F credits; according to the regulations of each university / department.

The Reggio Calabria office in particular it carries out national and international research activities, advanced training and information, activities of services and internal and external agreements to the Center for Entities, PMI, research centers, Laboratories, Companies:

  • Method, urban innovation processes and projects, of regeneration, strategies and tactics for smart sustainable cities
  • Sustainable Design: strategy, methods and techniques (from the territorial scale, urbana, of building)
  • Technology transfer and know-how on sectors other than construction (green economy ed industrial ecology)
  • Energy saving and energy efficiency – environmental: techniques and certifications (disciplinary, repertoires, specifications, guidelines, evaluation protocols: ITACA, LEED, iisbe Method)
  • Bioclimatic, technical solutions with low environmental impact with definition at the executive scale
  • Design, simulation and evaluation of the energy profile and environmental profile of the components (LCA)
  • Integration of active solar technologies to architecture: innovative systems and components
  • Verification of the technical-planning feasibility of sustainable interventions
  • Manufacturing and process and product enabling technologies (KET)

Furthermore ABITAlab, carries out applied research and technology transfer activities through experimental development laboratories in the area and scientific dissemination.

LIVES Master

The Master LIVES (Florence office), university level II, was born as a response to the high interest expressed by both public administrations and companies towards sustainable design and the conscious management of environmental energy resources. The Master involves 6 three of the most prestigious European universities and one of the most highly rated internationally. Now in its IX edition, sees a steady increase in both the number of subscribers and the percentages of job success for those who achieve it.
The Master lasts one year and includes frontal and laboratory teaching activities, of seminars and interactive teaching, of an adequate level, to which are added the hours of study and individual application. In addition to the aforementioned activities, precisely because of the highly professionalizing nature of the course, a period of internship in companies, research centers, public bodies and professional firms with proven experience in the sector.

S2_Home - Off-shore and off-site housing module with double seismic and environmental safety
Research-Project Contract (feb-lug 2019)
Client: De Masi Mechanical Industries

The mission of the De Masi company that commissioned the research project does not stop at the creation of patentable prototypes and as results of "experimental development" experience, but intends to create industrial systems capable of positioning themselves on new innovation markets, activating innovative supply chains on environmental and social security issues, according to the typical rules and processes of manufacturing industrialization to other innovation contents and enabling technologies.

The S2_Home housing module, it is therefore carried out through the in-depth study of mobile and self-erecting housing systems to respond to a demand for housing typical of emergency settlements or in any case scenarios of new settlement. Therefore aiming for high quality living, to the efficiency of the performance of operation and use, the versatility of the construction of being able to be located in different climates and sensitive sites.
The team work in the second phase of the project is entrusted with the engineering activities up to the prototype.
